Guest guest
12/06/02 I walked into the living room with the laundry basket on my hip and started hanging diaper covers and little, wet sleepers on the drying rack. I looked up and smiled at Ananda who, I noticed, was seated on the couch and she watched me for a while before she spoke. A: Mommy, I am being quiet and still. K: Are you? A: Yeah. It feels kind of nice. K: Mm hmm. A: Wanna be quiet and still with me? K: I'd love to. When the basket was empty I laid it down and joined her on the couch. After several minutes we heard some baby sounds coming from the bedroom. "You better go, Mommy," she told me, "Baby's up." "Okay, hon," I said, touching her head as I rose. Then she said, "Wait." When I looked back at her she had her arms open, her chin up, and her mouth puckered for a kiss.
