Aren't we all working on just that?

Especially here in this forum?

I guess I should have qualified my statement by writing

Just once I would like to hear the report from a Christian

proselytizer of a real encounter with Spirit,.....

And, yes I have had and continue to have such encounters. I am guided

by and given lessons regularly. Us old retarded souls with many, many

rebirths are slow to learn but we plod on. I will only relate my

first "real" encounter. I was in my Junior year in college and taking

a course in Comparative Religion. When we got to China, I discovered

the Tao Teh Ching, but only selections in my text. So I went out and

bought a complete translation by Lin Yutang, and including selections

from the Chuang Tse. I began reading -- and don't remember anything

else for three days. I knew I had encountered truth. After that I

began to have increasingly intuitive "feedings of information" when I

needed it, and began to have strange and wonderful "coincidences".

My life has had its hard knocks, but has been filled with wonder, and

a deep love for all life, amplified by reading the writings of and

meeting J. Allen Boone, the author of KINSHIP WITH ALL LIFE, and

other books.

My life has been filled with incredible experiences, very personal

which includes cancer survival, and having walked through the shadow

of death, have a very different view of "things" since.

That's enough to know that "walking our walk" is very demanding and

requires great integrity and persistence -- but the trip is worth it.

To go beyond what I have written here would take a volume and sound

like an ego-trip, which of course doesn't exist! :-D

BTW it is your turn now!

Thank you John, you have met the challenge most admirably,

and I will reciprocate, although my own personal revelations

will seem somewhat meager compared to most, as well as

any

genuine accomplishments! : ) If you could extend

your

kindness and patience just a little longer, would you

answer a

question: Have you ever recommended to one aspiring to

a

greater spiritual understanding a reading of the material

mentioned

above in the hope that it would provide sustenance to

one in need of such?

Sincerely

Mace

Hi Mace,

If I understand your question.

Yes, I have recommended J. Allen Boone's work to many people. The

Yoga Sutras are not for everyone, and only strike a chord if the

student is ready to receive it. On the other hand, anyone can read

Boone's work and enjoy it; if it is taken seriously the work he

recommends is basic and helpful, and makes a good introduction to

spiritual practice though the reader may not realize it at the time.

Besides it is fun to read. He also wrote THE LANGUAGE OF SILENCE

(published posthumously), LETTERS TO STRONGHEART (the real sequel to

KINSHIP WITH ALL LIFE), and YOU ARE THE ADVENTURE (which reads like a

Sunday supplement, motivating virtue). Only KINSHIP WITH ALL LIFE is

readily available, the others may be found in used bookstores on the

west coast, or possibly on the internet.

I have also required of my students that they read Vera Stanley

Alder's book, THE FINDING OF THE THIRD EYE, so that they can see that

the fundamental principles have been around for quite a long time and

there is really nothing new under the sun. BTW she doesn't tell you

how to actually "find" the third eye as a matter of practice. The

purpose is that in one place a great deal of the jargon the aspiring

student, psychical or spiritual, is likely to encounter is explained

well and simply in this book. Saves a lot of time for the student. I

don't recommend her other books because there it is revealed that she

is a follower of Alice Bailey and that is not my point. THE FINDING

OF THE THIRD EYE book is very objective and clean and her writing

there is unbiased while being useful.

Most of my teaching time was in the late 60s through 80s and there

was a lot of nonsense about incredible gurus and avatars entering the

earth plane. In one week I received announcements of three such

Avatars with their magic formulas and practices, which any good

psychic could conjure up without much difficulty. A study in such

spiritual malpractice is Frederick Lenz. The Vera Stanley Alder

material was/is a nice antidote to such nonsense.

I hope that answers your question.
