Guest guest
2/9/03 Volcano I have called it fierce and fiery hot lava from within but seen with no eyes What is it? Oh pure water springs forth from that same source deep down spilling a drop or two of its freshness It offers a taste of gratitude for what is seen with no eyes I am lying next to napping Baby Zachary, pen and pad at work on the words above, when his eyes and mouth pop open at once and he lifts his head, startled, yet sleepy. I turn toward him, my own eyes wide and smiling, and he breaks into a big, toothless grin; a clear drip on his cheek makes a downward curve. He is happy to see me. I move my face close to him and he reaches with two pudgy hands for my cheeks. I give him my chin for his teething pleasure and then return to my pen in order to write the last lines. His hands fall gently, I hear him sigh, and when I glance back again, his eyes are closed and he is breathing deeply. I am glad I am here.
