Guest guest
Marge: Lisa, Bart, what did you two learn in Sunday School today? Lisa: The answers to deep theological questions. Bart: Yeah, among other things, apes can't get into heaven. Homer: What? Those cute little monkeys? That's terrible. Who told you that? Bart: Our teacher. Homer: I can understand how they wouldn't let in those wild jungle apes, but what about those really smart ones who live among us? Who roller-skate and smoke cigars? ~Homerisms All other knowledges are only petty and trivial knowledges; the experience of silence alone is the real and perfect knowledge. Know that the many objective differences are not real but are mere superimpositions on Self, which is the form of true knowledge.~Sri Ramana Maharshi Bart: I am through with working. Working is for chumps. Homer: Son, I'm proud of you. I was twice your age before I figured that out. ~Homerisms Only that which was prior to the appearance of this body-consciousness is your true identity. That is Reality. It is here and now, and there is no question of anyone being able to reach for it or grasp it.~Ramesh S. Balsekar Marge: This chair is $2 000! We could buy a whole living room set for that. Homer: Marge, there's an empty spot I've always had inside me. I tried to fill it with family, religion, community service, but those were dead ends! I think this chair is the answer. ~Homerisms Nothing stands in the way of your liberation and it can happen here and now, but for your being more interested in other things. Andyou cannot fight with your interests. You must go with them, see through them and and watch them reveal themselves as mere errors of judgements and appreciation.~Nisargadatta Maharaj Marge: Homer, please don't make me choose between my man and my God, because you just can't win. Homer: There you go again, always taking someone else's side. Flanders, the water department, God... ~Homerisms Nobody is blocking your path except you.If there is any devil on earthultimately when you find himit'll be you.~Swami Amar Jyoti God: Thou hast forsaken My Church! Homer: Uh, kind-of... b-but... God: But what! Homer: I'm not a bad guy! I work hard, and I love my kids. So why should I spend half my Sunday hearing about how I'm going to Hell? God: [pause] Hmm... You've got a point there. ~Homerisms Enlightenment is total emptiness of mind. There is nothing you can do to get it.Any effort you make can only be an obstruction to it. ~Ramesh Balsekar Marge: I want you to throw away these old calendars and TV Guides. Homer: Are you mad, woman? You never know when an old calendar might come in handy. Sure, it's not 1985 now, but who knows what tomorrow will bring? And these TV Guides: so many memories ~Homerisms The man of understanding who has lost his identity as a separate individual remains identified with pure, infinite Consciousness while he continues to live out his life as an ordinary person in the world, knowing full well, however, that it is all an illusion.~Ramesh S. Balsekar Marge: You could take an adult education course. Homer: Oh, and how is "education" supposed to make me feel smarter? Besides, every time I learn something new, it pushes some old stuff out of my brain. Remember when I took that home wine-making course and I forgot how to drive? ~Homerisms The beginning of freedom is the realizationthat you are not the possessing entity - thethinker. Knowing this enables you to observethe entity. The moment you start watching thethinker, a higher level of consciousness becomesactivated. You then being to realize that there is a vast realmof intelligence beyond thought, that thought is onlya tiny aspect of that intelligence. You also realizethat all the things that truly matter - beauty, love, creativity, joy, inner peace - arise from beyond themind. You begin to awaken.~Eckhart Tolle LoveAlways, Mazie & b Tired of spam?
