Guest guest
Dear Friends of Our Loving Satsangha: I wish to briefly address and then step back from the Jesus thread, if I may. I have learned not to dwell here with that which takes on America alone. With regard to what we should concede to a government and that for which we should speak out in protest, for me the cornerstone of a just government is nonviolence. Ahimsa-nonviolence in thought, word and actions. Dear Grady, to address what you say with regard to the teachings of Christ, I completely agree. Give unto Caesar that which belongs to Caesar. Give unto God that which belongs to God. However, taxation is a simplistically easy distinction, if we view it in a vacuum. When it comes to justice and crime and punishment, which was the original post leading to this digression from yours, in the dispensation of justice, governments everywhere in the world cannot help but tread onto God's Holy Territory. For you, that is the Holy Bible. There are many other Holy Words of God in print. I will move away from specific references to America as I feel that this begins to tread in political waters. We have been asked to stay away from political agenda on this list. While it hurt me the first time I heard it, I have now heard it enough times, not just here, not to need to hear it again. I try to listen. I really do! I feel privileged to have Harshasatangh as a place to rejoice in the company of the Heart. I have strong feelings about some subjects which indict America; that is only natural since this is the beautiful country where I was born and which I hold very dear to my Heart. I only want for us the best. And I know that this is what motivates most of us when we speak out. But, I will try to hold my tongue. I cannot touch the ground but I can reach my mouth!!! So, if I do not respond in the future, do not take it that I am uninterested or do not care. I have simply learned to vent it elsewhere. Lady Joyce sometimes gets carried away, but I will try not to use her as an excuse to justify my actions. Truthfully, I did not even think about the political implications of my joining into the dance until this morning. It is very easy to get caught up. Having said that, I would like to clarify what Lady Joyce was talking about as she danced her chilidish dervish :-) Lex talonis be gone from us means to me that an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth is not justice grounded in corrective love and ahimsa. It is grounded in retribution, which is grounded in anger. That is the basis for my little mantra, one which I will repeat again and again, more than 108 times I am sure. But as we say so often here...it starts with us. The need to practice Ahimsa is surely not limited to our formal system of punishment, but to our everyday actions towards one another. May All Beings Live in Peace and Harmony OM, shaantiH, shaantiH, shaantiH Much love to all, Joyce
