Guest guest
Patanjali #6 D'Andrade translates Patanjali: I.18 Super-contemplation is atained by first subduing the outgoing activities of the mind, then its inmost activities arising from subtle impressions. I.23. Crowning success comes through one's loving Identification with the supreme Lord, Ishvara. Feuerstein translates: I.24. [ishvara] is a special Self because he is untouched by the causes of affliction, action and its fruition and by the deposit in the depth-memory. I.27. His symbol is OM. I.29. Thence follows the attainment of habitual inwardmindedness and also the disappearance of the obstacles mentioned below. I.30. These are the obstacles. Sickness, languor, doubt, heedlessness, sloth, dissipation, false vision, non-attaining of the stages of Yoga, and Instability in theses stages are the distractions of consciousness. I.31. The accompanying symptoms of the distractions are pain, depression, tremor of the limbs, wrong inhalation and exhalation. I.32. In order to counteract these distractions the yogin should resort to the practice of concentration on a single principle. The next seven aphorisms describe seven methods to overcome the obstacles to inward mindedness of consciousness. Love Bobby G.

Hi Bobby - Yes, i think you are right about understanding ourselves first, and from that comes understanding that we are all the same, really, we are all one, as Lady Joyce mentioned. Tonight, as news of the start of the bombings broke on the radio, I was in a taxi from work to the train station here. The announcer started with the news reports, and the driver and i just looked at each other, and he pulled the taxi over and parked it and turned off the meter. By this point, i was in tears and when i looked at him, he was too. And he started talking a little bit about Morocco, where he is from, and about his take on the conflict, and we just sat there and wept together in the taxi until it was time for the train. And i suppose this is in danger of turning into a rant or a ramble, so time to just say please pray for peace, now, and thank you again for the Patanjali, Bobby G. love and peace, joyce
