Birds quickly loose their fear of humans when they are hungry. These

geese are very shy, but it seems this flock arrived too early this

year.

The ice is still thick on the lakes, and the fields are covered with snow.

Below are some whooping swans on a field a bit further south, propably

just waiting, they are on the way far north.

If I came closer than about 100m they began to move. Here is a nice chance for a fox at night.

Hi Alan -

 

Thanks for your ongoing waterfowl photos. You're right about this

being an opportunity for a fox. Here, the geese and swans remain year

round, although i think they may have regretted it during this year's

harsh winter.

Hi Alan, Friends -

all is illusion,now you see me now you don't.mind's footprints remain.

PS - Your observation about swans and thick ice reminded me of these

photos from February. The first, Saturday when the temperature was 6

degrees F. The second, exactly 24 hours later, when it had warmed up

to 20 or so.
