Guest guest
4/4/03 "Morning has Broken..." ....only on this particular morning there is snow everywhere. And since we don't see all that much of it around here where we live you can imagine the thrill that transformed Ananda's sleepy face when she was rubbing her eyes and she looked out the window. Zack and I had been awake doing our little greet-the-morning routine where we babble and squeal to each other and he rolls around and drools all over me and all over the bed and Ananda heard us. So she wandered in and just before she crawled into the warmth of the bed, that's when she saw it. Well, it wasn't even 7 am yet, but we were definitely starting our day. There was a steady stream of songs about winter and snow and "Chwismas cawols" and Zachary couldn't have been more delighted. Before long, Ananda was in her winter coat, pants, boots and was joyfully gathering the wondrous white stuff in her mittens. She didn't last all that long, however, because she'd come back in with an idea. The fruits of it were enjoyed by an astonished Jim, who, after rolling out of bed, was greeted by the shining, year-round string of lights in our living room and a CD of holiday music. I guess our very first Christmas last December made an impression on Ananda. At this moment she is filled to the brim with excitement. Thankfully, she hasn't mentioned anything about "pwesents" so far. Right now I can hear her singing "Jingle Bell Wock." It may seem strange, but despite all that is happening elsewhere on this day, right here and right now there is this holy and joyful spirit of thankfulness that has one message for All the world, and if it had to squeeze itself into words, they might perhaps be: Let there be Peace!! In EverySinglePlace, for EverySingleBody and EverySingleThing, let there be Peace!!
