The chief of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba, Hafiz Saeed, has said that killing Hindus was a part of their `jehad' (armed crusade) against India. In an interview to the Pakistani weekly, The Friday Times, Mr. Saeed, in reply to a question as to why he should not lay down arms and resort to talks, said: ``The solution is not to bow before India and beg for dialogue. Our policy in Kashmir is studied and measured. They only understand the language of jehad. We have no choice but to respond by killing Hindus." The statement from Mr. Saeed comes close on the heels of claims by the Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police, A.K. Suri, that the LeT was behind the Nadimarg massacre. ``We must fight against the evil trio of America, Israel and India.... the need for jehad against India is paramount,'' the LeT chief said. ``Suicide missions are in accordance with Islam. In fact, a suicide attack is the best form of jehad.'' He claimed that all Parliament members of Pakistan supported `jehad'. However, taking a dig at the Pakistani regime, he said, ``they are taking instructions from foreign powers and have made a mockery of the state's sovereignty.'' Asked why the Muslim world could do nothing for Iraq, Mr. Saeed said: ``Ideally, the Pakistan Government should mobilise troops and fight the invaders. Pakistan could even ferry missiles and nuclear bombs to Saddam Hussein so that he could use them to protect Iraq.'' Guest guest
Hello everyone, I have stated many times before that the spiritual orientation of the list is not consistent with a discussion on world politics. Those individuals who continue to disregard the list philosophy will be d without notice. As I have said many times, If you have strong views and wish to discuss world events, politics, and so forth, there are many *other* lists available to you. This list is meant to be a sangha and to be inspirational. We encourage poetry, art, spiritual quotes, a discussion of your own experiences on the spiritual path, etc. We all know that the world is a troubled and often a violent place where many people are suffering. The list is based on the philosophy of nonviolence and is meant to be a sanctuary for like-minded people who believe in being kind to each other and seeing others humanity through their own.
