Guest guest
4/29/03 "More Than Ready" I was catching up on some e-mails with the baby nursing to sleep on my lap, when I took notice of how quiet it was in the house. "Hmm," I thought, "This seems odd! I guess Ananda and her dad must have gone outside." Then, suddenly, her bedroom door burst open and I heard an extremely enthusiastic, "Weady o' not, Hee-why Come!" She skipped over to me and said, "Mommy, I wasn't counting! I was just having fun in my woom and then I bemembered I was playing hide and seek and then I said, 'Ready or not, here I come!'" "Ah ha," I answered, nodding in understanding as she smiled at me. Then, as soon as she left my side, I quickly found myself engrossed in my reading again. A long while later Jim came limping in. His face was beet red and his hair was all a mess. He was kind of hunched over and was rubbing his back. He good-naturedly exclaimed, "D'you know what? She wasn't even counting! She said she was playing in her room! Do you know where I've been??" I looked up at him and said, "Oh my gosh. Where?!" "All curled up in the dark," he said, "inside that cabinet where we keep the dog food!" I got the giggles really bad and tried to say, "I'll bet it smells in there." He went on, "All along I thought she was looking for me, maybe in the bedroom, maybe in the living room, and then I hear, 'Ready or not...!' and I was already hurting by then!" (I don't know about you but I am still laughing!)
