Hi Ted,

 

I don't know about kundalini, Gopi Krishna, or about circles of

enlightenment, but I remembered back when Suzanne Segal's book came

out (_Collision with the Infinite_) and she had quoted Ramana saying

something about twelve years. At the time I thought, "No Way am I

waiting twelve years! I want it Now!" *hee hee* And then *poof* it

WAS. And guess what? It still IS...in fact It's always Izzing, and

always Now. (But darned if I don't still play the fool and get

myself preoccupied with the time-thing! Oh well, I guess that IS

too!)

 

I just looked that part up in the book and here's what it says:

 

"When asked by a disciple if it was necessary to be associated with

the wise (sat-sanga) in order for the Self to be realized, Ramana

answered: 'Yes, [what is required is] association with the

unmanifest sat or absolute existence...The sastras say that one must

serve (be associated with) the unmanifest sat for twelve years in

order to attain Self-realization...but as very few can do that, they

have to take second best, which is association with the manifest sat,

that is, the Guru.'"

 

Has it been about 12 years for ya, Ted?
