Hi Sanju,

 

There are "Gurus" who collect people through a form of possession.

The truth is that ultimately they only have the power you give them.

 

Gayatri Manrtra is good.

To whom is this happening? is better.

Who am I?

What am I?

These are the important questions to ask to find the Divinity, the

Self you really are. The teachings of Ramana Maharshi are beneficial,

he did not collect disciples, his teachings were freely given and are

freely received. You may also benefit from Sri Poonja and his related

teaching. He also gives no power to anything but letting go of all

thought for even a moment and it sets one free from all forms of

possession, attachment and desire. The goal is realized liberation,

not attachment to any man whose breath is in his nostrils.

 

Japa/Mantra can be a form of hypnosis unless used with sincerity and

meaning. One can chant "Coca-Cola" and get an effect.

One can chant "Om Namah Shivaya", not knowing what its intention is

and just repeat mechanically and will get the same effect as

chanting "Coca-Cola". Japa is not magic, it is helpful only if it

leads to clear realization.

 

The Guru shows the way, the Guru is not the goal, unless the Guru is

fully and truly God-Realized, then the Guru becomes transparent to

the Absolute.

 

You do not say who the Guru was, and it is probably not relevant.

There are many "Gurus" with "powers", siddhis, and any second rate

psychic can demonstrate many of those powers. Powers which enslave

are not beneficial and are as illusory as Maya. The "powers" are not

the goal either, no matter how impressive. The goal is liberation,

realization of the Self you are. This is the true freedom.

 

Ask yourself, Who is having these experiences?
