8/15/03 "Toothday"

It's been about a week of "Look, look at my wiggowee toof!" She

showed us a couple of times a day and also everyone else, including

the checkout ladies at the corner store, and tonight, right in the

middle of a mouthful of dinner she said, "Uh....guys...." and there

it was. Her little tooth. It was so little! And it was right there

in her pudgy palm and darned if I didn't feel a cry rise to my throat.

Is that crazy or what? But her dad and I cheered and clapped and we

put our arms around her and we sang Happy Toothday to her, a song

that none of us even knew was floating in the ethers, and there we

were, and it was heaven on earth.

I read your story and envision Divine Mother taking form as the

Tooth Fairy . . . and I remember I need forget all I think I know

and become her smiling little boy with a gift for under my pillow:

my wisdom teeth. What will she give me in return? May every day be

Toothday.

Blessings to all.

Love,

David
