First, let's try to skip the ads.

Now, two questions:

Question #1: Who am I?

Question #2: How are you?

I don't feel like I need an answer to the first before I can ask

the second . . .

Because as long as there's an "I" and a "you,"

there's a reason to show compassion . . .

And there will always be an "I" and a "you" . . .

even when there is not.

Our journey to nowhere is a journey we take together, and it's good

to remember this, even while aware of our fundamental nonexistence.

So if you like, take my hand in friendship, and take your own as

well . . . because the One inside is outside too.

Let's hold on to one another even as we let go of ourselves.

Because Love is a good thing, and that's what we are.

One caveat: We'll have to drop our baggage before we can take one

another's hand.

Want to give it a try?

After all, the past will always be behind us and the future will

always be in front of us.

Let's not live in such places.

Let's also remember that the present has no duration and never

comes or goes.

So let's not even stay there . . . it doesn't exist either.

Let's just sit in Now and not waste time that we don't have

and that doesn't exist by worrying about things.

Are you with me?

Can we let go of all the official titles now?

Parents, children, siblings, heroes, villains, phantom forms of us

and them . . . can we set them down for just one second?

They aren't here in this moment with us.

Here there can be no utopias and storybook fantasies, and there can

be no broken homes and strained relationships, because all the

labels are gone . . . we're just six billion souls dancing as Joy.

Can we just keep dancing as we forgive one another and forget

ourselves?

Because all of those things that happened and that will happen

don't really belong to us.

They're just events in time and space.

They're mine as much as yours and nobody's as much as

anybody's.

I know we have to make our own beds and pay our own bills . . . I

know the grocery store takes cash and credit, not omnipresence.

But if we just relax and let go of it all for a second, we'll feel

better for a second . . . and that second can last forever if we let

it.

So, please, let's put the baggage down now and just hold hands

and take one breath together.

Because I love you.

Not in an abstract sense, not in a generic sense.

I love each one of you personally for the individual you are and are

not.

We have never met. How can I be so bold?

How can I not?

We have different collections of stories, but they're really all

the same.

We've all felt joy and sorrow.

We've all caused joy and sorrow.

We're all our own persecutors and redeemers.

I know life is hard because it's my life too.

And I know life is joyful because we are Joy itself.

And you are right that I cannot possibly understand what you have

endured and that it is the height of egoism to write these things.

Please forgive me.

I love you, and I feel these things even though I don't

understand

them or you or myself.

Now I know nothing that's been said here is new.

It's all been said before, in a thousand different ways, most of

them far more eloquent.

But I had to tell you just once more that you are loved.

Because I love you, and I care about you, and I know that deep down,

all will be well.

And all is well.

Because Rumi is right . . . "Ours is not a caravan of

despair."

Now my final confession: A thousand Vedas will not liberate me . . .

but just a smile from you, and I am free.

Love,

David

That was beautiful David!

I especially like the ending.

"

Because Rumi is right . . . "Ours is not a caravan of

despair."

Now my final confession: A thousand Vedas will not liberate me . . .

but just a smile from you, and I am free."

Hey, here is smiling at you kid (that's from the movie Casablanca)!

Harsha

Well, Harhsa, Ben and everyone else who's smiling and who's not, I

guess this truly is "the beginning of a beautiful friendship."

Actually, the friendship we speak of has no beginning or end, but

I'm a sucker for classic movie lines too.

Thanks for being the love.

David
