Dear Nair ji and everyone:

Forgot to send this earlier. Probably the topic has been covered well already as

there are some highly knowledgeable persons and scholars on the Advaitin list.

Since the topic of Shakti or the Goddess is of general interest - will send a

copy to NDS and HS as well.

Shakti Sadhana can become Advaita Sadhana in final stages. Shakti is the force

of movement that reveals Herself as non-movement in the Heart, as the Heart, the

Self. I believe the Upanishads call it Hridya Gufa where Brahman resides as Pure

Being. Sri Ramana spoke much of the Heart and its relationship with Shakti and

how the mind and Shakti enter the Heart through Para Nadi or Amrita Nadi. Sri

Krishna has also said, "I am in the Heart of all beings."

Visualization of chakras is not needed for Kundalini Shakti to become active.

However, beautifully precise yantras can spontaneously appear before the mind of

the Yogi. The actual representations we see in the Shakti based art are probably

based on what the Sages actually see.

Similarly, Shakti is called Devi, because She sometimes appears in the form of a

supremely captivating and beautiful woman in visions and epitomizes the ultimate

purity and innocence as the Female Divinity.

There is a lot of literature on Kundalini and Shakti Yoga, as you are all well

aware which talks about such things. Meditation and spiritual practices are

helpful in understanding what scriptures and sages have said in more depth.

Love to all

Harsha

Namaste Shri Ralph Nataraj.

[Kundalini is none other than Shakti - Mother (taTillatAsamaruchi

shadchakropari samstitAh - like lighting pervading the six chakrAs -

in LalitA sahasranAmAvali). To my understanding, the chakrAs are a

symbolic visualization that aids the aspirant to advaitic heights and

the enhanced tactile experiences that culminate in bliss are boons

(the expression of Her Grace) en-route Self-realization. Personal

experience suggests that, even without a shad-cakra visualization, a

Devi devotee can experience enhanced tactility as in Kundalini

practice. I may be questioned here for sure but can't help

expressing this view based purely on my current understanding of this

complex area of spirituality.]

PraNAms.
