i have to say something on this topic too.

omkaar is the first sound of the universe with its origin from shiva itself.

it is not just comprised of three letters-- A,U & M.

but it has two other components-- bindu & naad

in fact, from these five components of omkaar give rise to five elements--

A-- earth

U-- water

M-- fire

BINDU--air

NAADA--ether

during practice of yoga(sadhna), a sadhak is able to listen to a no.

of sounds(naadas) like

the sound of sea waves, the sounds of various types of instruments & many others.

but besides these sounds appears the adi naada(the first sound) also called the

brahmanaada or shabdabrahman.

lord shiva say about this naada--

if a saadhak has listened to brahmanaada & wishes for anything else

then he is just hitting punches in the space.

listening to this naada is the first experience of the saadhak beyond the

regular three stages-- wakened(jaagriti)

dreams(swapn)

sleep(sushupti)

this adinaada arises from shiva(the auspicious) & takes a saadhak there.

where a saadhak in real terms experiences oneness(advaita) in

nirvikalpa samadhi & achievesnirvaana(mukti).

for more details please refer to shiva purana.

Karta______________________

hi,

dear karta,

the sentence just means that if a person has listened to brahmanada &

wishes for anything else he just wastes his time, like a person

wishing to hurt someone instead of hitting that person hits punches

in the space, of no use.

love,

gautam.
