i wish ground forces meant forces within the ground

~Marlene Mountain

The transformed self is innocent and

"As a white cavern without explanation" that speaks with a silent

voice:

When I open once for all my impeccable bell

No one questions my silence:

The all-knowing bird of night flies out of my mouth.

The entire experience is one where the self is touched by the

beauty and truth of the flowering darkness which is also the

silent, soaring bird. The mystic vision not only startles, but

starts a change in all who experience it:

You live forever in its echo:

You will never be the same again.

~Thomas Merton

May the Force be with you.

like a blue hyacinth bulb;

a God-besotted potted person

planted in the ice-box of time

I am forced by love

to early bloom and fragrance

the darkest months

the longest nights

in deepest coldest space

all these years later

father wakes us

with his screams..

~Doris Pearson

my father wandered bloody beaches in Okinawa

nightly, dreamily dipping his mind

in a red tide-pool of time,

crying out in grief so profound

that when he awoke and found

himself dreaming once more,

living the war dream once more,

it was more than he could bear.

And of Daddy, dead since the autumn of 1985, on some nights,

the long, dark, harshly bright nights when the stars will not shine,

I find myself still waking, startled and still hearing,

even now hearing,

a gentle, broken man weeping,

grieving of old wounds inflicted and sustained,

a heart stained in sorrows from old dreams of long gone shores

that reach out like the screams from nightmares he bore –

that bear fruit even now in this poem's ode boring holes

in the core apple story told and rekindled in dream orchard fires

smoldering as memory embers,

rising samskaric smoke screens obscuring That

since Adam pointed to Eve, the moon of his mirrored heart.

four middle-age men

dressed in worn fatigues

huddle together and cry

Behold my Mother playing with Shiva,

lost in an ecstasy of joy!

Drunk with a draught of celestial wine,

She reels, and yet does not fall.

Erect She stands on Shiva's bosom,

and the earth Trembles under Her tread;

She and Her Lord are mad with frenzy,

casting Aside all fear and shame.

Five-faced Shiva in holographic fin: shell barter;

Four-Faced Chen in Zen zig-zag: re: chin up! Chan-san;

Three-faced Wine-Shine Readers in plunge: Rumi red-barrel express;

Two-faced Tara in green mask gone white: crone and plum ignite;

One-Faced Christ in light digs, Zen-figs uneaten: in a bowl floats

the Sea.

I am filled with you.

Skin, blood, bone, brain, and soul.

There's no room for lack of trust, or trust.

Nothing in this existence but that existence.

~Rumi

Love,

Mazie
