In either approach, the ego, the sense of identity, the I-nessmerges in the Heart and the Self.Bhagavan often made the point that one cannot gobeyond a certain point with effort alone and thatGrace is needed. When asked, how could one obtainGrace, Sri Ramana would say that Grace isever-existent and always there. One only needed to beaware of It. That is why Ramana Maharshi often broughtattention to the Heart, and that the Self is AlwaysRealized and that the Grace is always there. So one makes the sincere effort, and then Grace takesover, some Power, the Power of the Self---that takesthe mind and merges it in the Heart. The Heart is the magnet. The words of the Guru areGrace because they make the devotee aware of the Heartthat is Self. When meditation is ripe, and all theeffort that is possible has been made, through Grace, mind and Shakti are drawn to the Heart, and the Heartswallows up everything. That is the Supreme Silencebeyond time and space.Love to allHarshaHarsha - again: Ramana Maharshi suggested both "Who am I" and "Whenceam I" forms of inquiry. They can actually both gotogether. "Whence am I" is very powerful but "Who amI" has caught on more as Sri Ramana emphasized it overand over again and for good reasons. In Sanskrit "Whoam I" is translated as "Kohum". "Who am I" cannaturally lead to looking into the "whereness of thehereness!"There are other forms of inquiry as well which couldbe used. If I recall correctly our own Jerry Katz hadcome with "Why am I" which many liked very much aswell. What ever the inquiry, when the inquirer vanishes, everything goes.Love to allHarsha Love, Mazie Fretting that your Hotmail account may expire because you forgot to sign in enough? Guest guest
Hi Tony, Could you be more specific , what would that mean? God/Saguna Brahman killing its own dream? Let me see if I have understood. Brahman's Dream = The Universe Each individual (Jiva) = Brahman Each individual dreams the Universe. Each individual has to kill its own Universe, including personality and all concepts, including, lastly, mind itself, and remain as Nirguna Brahman. Is this what you mean? Appreciate feedback.
