The more I examine the evidence the more I see a barren woman's son...........ONS...Tony. The danger in this belief, dear Tony, is that it reduces everyone and every living thing to mere shadows and automatons...which are neither worthy of our care or love. That cannot be a correct view, either. Further...if you think rightly about this...how can you know or not know the degree of suffering or non-suffering of the bird...let alone a world of humanity and other living entities that struggle, suffer and die? Read the sage words of the Buddha. Suffering is a burden that is real to the sufferer. Breaking the chain of suffering is what the spiritual search is all about. You miss the mark by assuming that a Just God imposed suffering upon an innocent creature ("without karma"). First we cannot assume that "God" imposed this cycle...what if the bird-spirit chose this life, fully knowing the risks, the burdens, the joys and suffering it might (and would) endure? What if the bird-spirit returns year after year, going through the cycle of death-spirit-rebirth-death again and again...and knowingly, lovingly, without hesitation chooses to enter this world for the intense and fleeting joy of knowing life, and sharing this experience joyfully with all around it? Have you never heard the joyous symphony of small birds greeting each dawn? What is this song if not a triumphant cry against the oncoming darkness, cold and eventual death of a bird...when in fact bird lives on...sings on and exults in a new day? Tony, you see only the shadow imposed on the bird, you do not look into his heart and know his ecstasy. Do not listen for the silence of the dead bird. Listen to the joyous songs he sings! Guest guest
Namaste, The little finch that I saw as a leaf as a bird as a leaf as a bird, paid a last visit and died in the same spot I saw him. The lesson being that which we see is only our own perception of rising energies and that death is only on the balcony.
