Guest guest
--can someone please elaborate on surrender, on death, and reincarnation and on what is what is born I seem to get into big trouble with this subject I feel that some people are in to 'spirituality' wanting to be 'saved' from death and I find this as a wrong base: a selfish motive myself and as a hurdle to get over to go on on the journey toward the Self maybe this is not the right word I can't think of a better one omnamo bhagavate ramanya "Love itself is the actual form of God." Yes, you are right. To get into spirituality does not mean to be freed from 'death' The word 'Immortality' is very often used. But it does not mean that you will be given an 'amrit' as was given for the divines and consequently they did not meet with death until the world itself met its Dissolution. Rather, one should say, one should get into spirituality in order to be freed from 'birth'. The goal is to be freed from all birth and consequently all death. This mortal coil in which we are at present shall and will meet its end in a very finitee time. The divines who had the 'amrit' of course lived very long but they did not get the benefit of Spirituality by that. The salvation of their souls can occur only when they take their birth in the human world and carry on the torch of the upward passage of their Atman towards the goal of 'no birth and therefore no death'! Guest guest
Namaste Professor: It is such a pleasure and an honor to have you here, Sri Krishnamurthy, sharing your knowledge and wisdom with us, as we travel through the dream:-) For some of the newer members who might not know this, Professor is a learned scholar in advaita and nondual philosophies. Some of you might remember that I posted an excerpt from A Digest of Paramacharya's Discourses on Soundaryalahari back in August, as translated by him. Sri Krishnamurthy has translated much of this beautiful work and I believe he has posted all of his translations to date on his website, which... can be found at Science and Spirituality http://www.geocities.com/profvk/ Welcome to our Sangha, and Namaskar... Joyce "Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswati Swamigal (1894 -1994), also called the Paramacharya, was the sage of Kanchi in Tamilnadu, India, who was so simple, humble, profound, enlightened, compassionate, scholarly and full of Grace that he naturally and effortlessly touched the hearts of men and women, prince and pauper, around the world. Ascending to the Headship of the Kanchi Kamakoti Mutt at the age of thirteen as the 68th pontiff in the line of succession from Adi Sankara, he ministered to the needs of the afflicted and the distressed and spread the message of compassion and of a return to the most treasured ancient values. After a mission like this full of action for almost half a century which included a 30-year walking pilgrimage of the entire subcontinent of India, he laid down his headship and devoted his time, for the next forty years, to severe penance for universal welfare. Not one of those thousands who had his darshan every day missed to feel the soul-stirring presence of the Living God "in their veins." Professor V. Krishnamurthy Lady Joyce tugs at Joyce's sleeve... Krishnamurthy, when my master lectured us about being saved, and stated that we initiates never have to come back to the earth, to the valley of death, I said out loud but I DO! In my understanding one should be in a spiritual quest to dispel ignorance not to want no birth and no death death is part of life the afterlife is fantasy and hook used in ignorance by most religions to enslave us BIRTH AND HUMAN LIFE IS SACRED all the gods envy us humans, for the opportunity to HAVE LIFE, to have this journey back to god LIVED, yes lived! with our afflictions to manifest our sacred being: our god given existence and to offer it surrendered to the next generation, our accomplishments offered with Love into the collective *Conscious: doing its good and die in peace with the opportunity to be able to act so with the offering of our LIFE surrendered with Love to the law of Life to a law laid by God AND NEVER EVER WANT TO *BE* forever that is ludicrous love Era > This mortal coil in which we are at present > shall and will meet its end in a very finitee time. > > The divines who had the 'amrit' of course lived very long but they > did not get the benefit of Spirituality by that.
