Guest guest
Oh mighty oak how do you feel Here on your high and windswept hill Your leafy crown spread wide in sky Your gnarled trunk in gashed rock resides Where but an acorn you gained sanctuary Within a niche in it's grim granite rock face Which allowed your roots a tiny space To thrust in their ever seeking way Until they found their home at last... In our welcoming loving mother earth. As you grew you sent up shoots Towards the light that filtered through Until in time your ceaseless striving Shattered your host who'd become too close. In freedom you spread your branches wide And you now shelter those who in you abide Strong and firm you stand in wind and storm Your roots sunk deep in mother earth Your leafy crown bowing to father sky. I climb the hill to where you stand And sit beside your spreading roots To hear the wind sing sweet harmonies Whispering lips brushing your leafy hair Gladly we breath the air we need As one with Mother Earth beneath In loving gratitude for God's Light.
