Dear Sangha:

I am leaving shortly to go to Wisconsin. As you all

know, I was there for Thanksgiving and then Christmas.

My father continues to be critically ill in the ICU

ward of the hospital and his liver and kidneys are

failing. Overall, his condition is not good. But my

father continues to hold on. It has been a difficult

time for him, and the family as well. My mother said

that he has become very peaceful over the last two

days.

I am looking forward to seeing my father and spending

about a week with him. My father is not able to speak

and so I mostly sit with him, talk with him, and pray.

It is a great and wonderful gift for me now to be able

to spend time with him and serve him. At times like

this when there is complete helplessness, one

understands the meaning of "Lord not my will, but

thine."

I am taking a copy of Bhagavad Gita with me and will

be reading passages from it to my father and repeating

the Gayatri mantra and other prayers.

My focus will be on telling my father that he has led

a good life, raised a good family, and that we love

him. And that he should be fully satisfied and know

that he is always embraced in the warmth of love. And

that All is Well.

Love to all

Harsha

Godspeed, Harsha. As my mom lay dying, seemingly unconscious, I read

poetry to her that she liked. A day or two after her death, she let

me know in detail, through a dream, that she had heard the lines and

that she was happy. These days are, indeed, an enormous gift. Much

love, Holly
