Namaste Vicki, I don't think anyone was criticising any teacher, I wasn't and I don't think Dan's post on Krishnamurthi was either. JK was saying that most of the people that listened to him were actually being entertained, that's all. He probably meant he should have worked on his own realisation rather than the entertainment of so many. As Jesus said pearls before swine, or the old Irish saying no point in feeding strawberries to pigs.hahahahah. The nature of these lists is entertainment and diversion, and one can see by the posts that people are doing exactly that. It is mostly spiritual materialism and diversion/entertainment. The only saving grace of these lists is that they make people think of the spiritual rather than the mundane for a short while, all part of concentration--------and that's it IMO. Most display in later posts that they have learned nothing from earlier posts..........ONS...Tony

Vivekananda was forever physically weakened by his churning. It is painful and a grief period for people to let go of their favourite ideas and concepts, for they have built their mind on them. So although Ramana advises Who am I. Ko-Ham he also indicates a certain amount of maturity and purification is necessary to reach the level of awareness to do that. Most people make the most progress from a period of suffering or chaos in their lives. Westerners by nature are rajasic and more suitable to some action before meditation proper. Being a Vndist does not do anything.....Verbal non dualist, that is. However my post was pointing out my own feelings, if you consider it to be chaotic meditation, perhaps it will help you. ..........ONS...Tony. Guest guest
Dear Tony, how right you are about suffering and spiritual progress. Even after spontaneous samadhi at first hearing about Ramana's teaching, it took another couple of years and intense suffering to turn my mind to serious sadhana. The same seems to be the case for many sadhakas. Sincerely, Christina > > Namaste Shawn, > > One finds on the literature of many saints, that a certain churning > occurs.
