Guest guest
Namaste, The morning that I gave up eating meat I had a dream that was the catalyst. I was visiting some family members in Sydney and I was on Bondi Beach, I like surfing. I ate a hamburger and then fell asleep on the beach during which time, I was given a dream. In this dream I was actually a cow or steer or whatever, bovine anyway. I was in the slaughterhouse, and was terrified by the cries of the other animals waiting to go up before the human killer. The stench of blood and faeces assailed by rather large nostrils and my eyes rolled in utter panic and fear in my head. I looked around for someone I knew but I was alone amongst all these terrified animals. My panic grew as I was forced between a row of gates and down a slippy path full of blood, faeces and urine. I hesitated and was prodded with an electric prod to make me move forward into this tight space. Eventually I was in a kind of giant manacle which held my head for the human killer. I was terrified and so were all the other cattle for we knew, yes we knew. At his point I awoke on the beach repeating 'My God they know', they know they are going to be killed so cruelly. At that point I resolved never to be an accomplice to the greatest holocaust of all time, and I became a vegetarian. I'm a slow learner you see!! Now here is my 'riposte' to the vndists and other so called meat eaters. If you can imagine what I have written and apply it to all animals, birds and fish taken from their families and tribes for slaughter, and then still sit there with meat on your plate and call yourself spiritual then I will call you a hypocrite. Raving about Jewish Holocausts, and Irish, Armenian whatever pale into insignificance to the holocaust of our animal brothers........ONS..Tony. Guest guest
Hay Tony, I know how you feel. I am about an inch away from stopping eating meat myself. However......... One tiny eantsy weency little thing I would like to point out. We all for the most part drive cars that need gas and in the process of being created take up resources and create pollution. They drive on roads that in the process of being made kill huge numbers. We all for the most part use plastics that cause huge amounts of pollution and kill countless animals. If you live in any type of house, more then likely, many animals where displaced in the process of clearing the land and building the house. I could go on and on but I am sure you recognize the point and that is, most if not all "Civilized" humans are mass killers and our way of life is killing not only ourselves, but every living thing on the planet. If you are going to call meat eaters that claim to be spiritual, "hypocrites", you better add that label to yourself and the rest of so called "civilized" humanity. Branwell Is this muttering really better then silence....hmmmm No. At 03:29 PM 2/19/2004, you wrote: >Namaste, > >The morning that I gave up eating meat I had a dream that was the >catalyst. However one has to do one's best and start somewhere. The animal holocaust is stark and targeted deliberately, it is not a by product of another activity. It actually sets up vibrations, resentments, that carry over into the bodies of animals that become humans. No doubt my dream existed in the meat I ate in the form of vibrations, I was eating the meat of the animal I dreamed I was. So yes I agree with you but that isn't an excuse to not do something. At least with giving up meat it is one action everyone can take and little actions eventually add up to big ones that cause sea changes. Kind of like Dean raising $40 million in small donations, a feat previously thought impossible. They all thought they had to sell out to the big lobbyists killing the planet until this event. However humans will always find a way to cop out rationalise and fool themselves. I personally don't castigate normal non spiritual people or people in ignorance for eating meat, anymore than I would castigate a dog for doing the same thing...hypocrisy is what I am talking of....For the karmic propensity and consequences arising from so called spiritual people doing it are horrendous.....ONS.....Tony
Guest guest
Dear Tony, I whole heartedly agree with you. When I was small, I hated meat and was forced to eat it by my family. Until the sixties meat in Germany was only eaten once a week on Sundays when the whole family gathered around the roast after church (or pub). Nowadays meat is eaten like bread without given the animal a thought. If people had to do their own slaughtering there would be much less meat eating, I am sure. Anyway, I find it hard to understand, how anybody can still eat meat if they seriously contemplate what they are eating. All that fear and pain, all the illness and antibiotics are taken in when eating. regards chris On Feb 19, 2004, at 21:29, Tony OClery wrote: > Namaste, > > The morning that I gave up eating meat I had a dream that was the > catalyst. This is why I am talking of the difference of living in the lower mind or manomayakosa and living fully in the higher mind or vijnanamayakosa. The only difference between a human and animal is the potential of the vijnanamayakosa...there is only one soul in the universe after all.....ONS...Tony. But it is true that there is fear in the animals at the slaughterhouse. Being from a cowboy background I know that. But they're afraid because they only "think" that they're going to die.
