Guest guest Posted February 25, 2004 Report Share Posted February 25, 2004 Dear Friends: When I was out today I noticed a few people with the familiar ashes on the forehead that I remember from my childhood raised in the Roman Catholic faith. If my memory serves me well, this marks Ash Wednesday, which is the beginning of Lent. Vicki Woodyard, no chocolate until Easter :-) Does anyone know where the tradition began and the significance of the ashes on the forehead?
