Guest guest
Today I visited the mother of one of the handicapped kids I work for. He is a thirteen year old boy. Well, to go short, his mother is dying. I was asked by his mentor to visit her. I said "okay". So, my colleagues prepared a little lunch for him to eat when we would arrive in the clinic where his mother is staying. It's a clinic for the terminally ill. They play liturgy and psalms. Even the tea tasted like death. So there we were, the three of us. His mother couldn't speak anymore, she was too weak and too high on morphine. And the kid can't speak anyway. So I fed him his "petit lunch" and his mother lay there staring at her son. He was smiling all the time. It was silent. Very silent. I wasn't afraid to just keep quiet. No need for words, no need for chit and chat. No need for anything. Just sitting there watching attentively. Who is afraid of dying? It's nothing. Love, Ben.
