You are absolutely right ...illusion simply means ...it is no real. Suffering (mental suffering, ...imagined pain, thought problems) simply mean that ...it is not natural. Things come, events happen ... You can use them ...the way you want. Remember, that ultimately the God is ...not separate from you. It doesn't want anything for you ...that you don't choose ...consciously or unconsciously. You have almost total control ... By living this moment is certain way you can almost predict ...how the next moment would be. You can use any felt suffering ( ...thought pain) to observe closely, witness mind and ...get more conscious. And, thus ...to ultimately come out of it. Once you have done it enough number of times ...the mind learns to do it on its own and witnessing becomes ...natural.
