Guest guest
Dear B., explain the greed. Yes, yes, ...explain the greed, explain the greed. Well, ...greed is the seed, for all you `think' ...you need. Dear P., Yes, greed is the seed, ...for all you `think' you need. You can even go little further and say that the greed is the seed for what you think. Not just what you think, you need but the very seed of why you `think'. In a way, it is seed of you. It is the seed of you ...as you know it. Seed of your ego, seed of you as the ego, ....very seed of `me this', `me that'. Fear and greed are not ...that different. In fact, they are just the opposite side of the same coin. In one you are wanting to become ...something more. In the other, you are wanting to not become ...something less. Yet, in both the want is same, the `you' that wants is same. It is the same you, same ego and these are just its survival tactics. It is the fight of survival, ...the survival of ego. And, it keeps going on, it keeps going on ...every moment of your life, every breath that you take. Every breath is like a reminder to you, like an alarm clock that you use to ...create it again. That's why the breath-awareness works so well, that's why the breath-consciousness works so well ...that's why vipassana works. It brings the alarm clock into the light. It brings the mechanism into the foreground. ....watch your breath and you will be surprised. And, greed and fear are like close cousins, like brothers, ...like very true friends. They work with and for each other. And, they help each other. If one gets weak the other tries to help. Try killing one and the other will sneak from the back, from behind. You can observe it anytime. Reason that people get so greedy is basically ...because of insecurity, because of fear. They gather so much but still they think its is not enough, ...it may not last, there might be famine, there might be draught, there might be an attack, there might be a nuclear explosion, what about the children they may not have enough when they become fifty, what about their children ...and, the list goes on and on. But, all this collection, after all this gathering and greed the basic fear, the basic lack still remains the same. It is insatiable. It is an illusion. And, people continue committing numerous atrocities on fellow human beings ...in the name of a desire that can not be fulfilled, a mechanics that is broken at its very core. ....It is simply the survival mechanism of the ego. And, the ego is ...never secure, never safe. The false can be never secure. False can never be safe. Only the real can know any security, any safety and until the real is known the fear continues, the insecurity continues and the game of the continues. And, there is no problem. All it takes is ...little imagination and the machine has infinite. All it takes is imagining some possible or not-possible situations that the mind can buy into at it ranges from the though of a child falling sick to an asteroid hitting earth or the earth moving out of its orbit. On the other side it is even easier, ...even this much imagination is not required. creation of greed is much simpler ...all that is required is to just add a little to what is already there ...and, once that is ...something more can be added to that too. If you have 100, you can want 1000, them million ...and all you need is to some additions each time. It is very simple and ...the same game works every time. There is no problem because the machine is permanently installed. Permanently installed in every brain, ...in every skull. The same machine that creates ego, also creates greed and fear for all its survival and food. And, every breath is just alarm ...here, we go again. And, it is timed to ...perfection. Body takes the breath and the brain recreates the ego. The body gets it food ...as air. So does the ego ...as a thought. As a thought with either greed or fear in its root, their illusory fulfillment, end as its goal. That's why loss of ego also feels physical death, the breathing seems to be stopping and the body itself feels like dying. ...And, the moment you start observing your breath, the thoughts too start dispersing.
