Ramana and the day Gandhiji died and Swaraj.

Ramana was visibly upset on the news of Gandhiji's death." For the

Mahatma's death in this tragic manner, every person's heart is

mourning." Ramana had tears in his eyes and they had a special

Aarthi for him at the Bhajan. They sang Raghupati Raghava Raja Ram.

 

'Swaraj has now been obtained; your work is over; why are you still

here? Shouldn't you go back? It is already late', Thus the Mahatma

appears to have been sent away."----Ramana.

 

This was based on the disappearances of Ram and Krishna,

particularly Ram.

 

Why you might ask is such a thing as Swaraj important for Gandhi and

Ramana, it is of the world is it not?

 

Swaraj means Self Rule, and as Sankara says of the world it is real

while one is in it. Swaraj is the right of any particular nation;

for it involves their group karma and destiny and shouldn't be

manipulated by conquerors.

By getting Swaraj the Indians freed the British as well, for they

had been ruling in India for over two hundred years, and probably

thought it would go on. There was a whole new group of people called

Anglo-Indians and many British were born in India and were British

Indians.

The British were violating the Yogic Principle of Asteya or non

stealing. Asteya is a broad concept as is its sister Ahimsa. So

occupying people's countries by force, is actually stealing and

those that do are living in a state of theft. Under Asteya are many

acts, such as gambling, for to win someone must lose, so their money

is stolen by the winner. Stealing time from an empoyer or employee.

Stealing money with usurious interest. etc etc etc. So the British

were freed from this preventative to their spiritual development as

a nation as well as India.

 

(As a footnote as a Canadian Citizen it is interesting that the

Natives in Canada, who were mainly nomads and had no concept of

owning land, are now doing so. They rule their own complete 'States'

or Territories; The North West Territory-Indian..Dene, and Nunavut---

Inuit (Eskimo). These areas is probably a quarter the size of the

USA. In other more settled areas; new treaties are being concluded,

renegotiated and cash, resources and land are negotiated for. This

is removing the state of Asteya from
