Namaste H, I'm not a devotee either but I get right in there, doing pada namaskar, getting hugged, singing bhajans and taking part in the pujas. Not all are devotees there are all kind of people into vedanta that go to these darshans. Sometimes the devotee marshals can be a bit heavy though. I know some of the travelling show, particularly the guy who does the vedic astrology and computer stuff. He's from here in Vancouver and I've seen him in the states and in australia, some of the others as well. Many devotees are people who were disenchanted with a notorious guru and many others are women who were somewhat abused and have found a spiritual home. That doesn't cover all of course. Get in there Harsha and get a hug, the energy buzz is worth the line up, get in early and sit up front behind the band and you will get an early hug....Or if you can pass as old and decrepit you sit on the chairs on the side and get preferential treatment..I did one time when I had a broken arm from surfing in mexico, thought I was young again hahahah.......ONS..Tony. Guest guest
Dear friends, Hug your SELF. Guest guest
Dear Friends: Eleven years ago I came to Bryant to teach. The summer following, Ammachi held her first retreat on campus. It is one of the several major retreats in the U.S. lasting from Thursday evening to Sunday morning. Every year for the last 10 years the Ammachi group has come and they are here again. Even though not part of the group, I go and enjoy the Indian food and sometimes the Kirtan. A nice group of devotees to mingle with. They usually form lines at night and get on their knees for a chance to hug Amma. Many of them ask me if I have had a chance to hug Ammachi. It is hard to tell them that I don't feel inclined to get in the line and so forth and come mostly for food and sometimes the kirtan and the nice environment. Frankly, I am satisfied hugging my own Amma (my mother)! In spiritual circles, the balancing act of respecting others philosophy, gurus and views and at the same time being true to oneself requires diplomacy and tact. Sri Ramana was, as I recall, was a master of such tact. Once someone sought (offered) to initiate the Sage and Sri Ramana characteristically kept quiet. Later when the person insisted, Sri Ramana relying on a scriptural text mentioned that those living within a certain distance of Arunachala did not require formal initiation and thus the matter came to a harmonious end. "Getting the Buzz" is what really matters, is it? "Or if you can pass as old and decrepit you sit on the chairs> on the side and get preferential treatment.." It must be a really important buzz for you, if you are recommending that Harsha pretend to be disabled in order to "get" a hug from our Revered Mata Amritananda Amma-Ji. Has it occurred to you that some members of this list have disabilities which range from the mild to the severe? >>>I did one time when I>>> had a broken arm from surfing in mexico, thought I was young again>>>> hahahah....... Very amusing words from a member who gets on his soap-box with his "Sayings of Jesus" homilies with their "purports"; but thankfully, not on this list. I actually follow Vivekananda's dictum that whatever spirituality is, it doesn't have a miserable face. Most spiritual disabled people that I have met have a great sense of humour about their disability and carry it as the karma and illusion it is. I'm sorry that you don't understand that the energy buzz, is actually everything and is the Sakti. If you think Amma is the body then you may think that you are also. On Harsha I asked if people still wanted me to post the Sayings,I indicated that I am writing a book about Jesus from a somewhat eastern point of view, nobody objected and I was encouraged to continue. Are you upset about me or about the fact it is about Jesus for some reason?/////?????????? Namaste, 5) Jesus said, "Recognize what is in your sight, and that which is hidden from you will become plain to you. For there is nothing hidden which will not become manifest." Purport:O'Clery. Basically this means non-duality; see everything as one, as a manifestation or projection of God. To realise that we are within all and all is in the mind, and we are not outside of it. God is everything including ourselves. Once we can get to the point were we see all as God completely we are Liberated......ONS...Tony. I thought I handled the attack on me quite well, seeing as it was all about a sense of humour and from another list anyway. I see that you didn't mention anything about the cause of my response. The pendelum only swings one way it seems...or am I being tactless...........ONS..Tony
