Guest guest
Namaste, 86) Jesus said, "[The foxes have their holes] and the birds have [their] nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head and rest." Purport:O'Clery. This indicates there is no need for any materiality or attachments for the Son of Man. It also indicates total surrender to the Lord, or God and putting our burden on him who really does the work....ONS..Tony.

The Temple in his day was no refuge for him...it was in the hands of his enemies. As long as others suffered, or were sick, of body or spirit, Jesus felt that it was wrong for him to rest. His rest, as far as he was concerned would be at a distant place and time...not of this earth. He also may have been poking just a bit of fun at himself, as the fox was known as the shrewd, cunning and wise creature...and Jesus was saying that in comparison, he was not wise...more interesting is the choice of the birds...and most often in Jesus speech (just count 'em) his favorite bird is the dove. The dove was always likened to the spirit or spiritual, and one wonders here, if Jesus might not have been also slyly comparing his own spiritual efforts to that of the Dove, which evokes peace and harmony so gracefully, and can find peace within its nest...but for Jesus, this too was not possible. One might read this as, "I am htought wise, but clearly a fox is more clever; I am thought a religious master, but clearly the Dove has mastered peace and harmony far more than have I. Before anyone think they are clever or they are peaceful, consider the creatures of the earth and realize how far one must go to achieve their skills." I thought this was interesting to contemplate. Remember, animals engage in their actions with no self consciousness and no regret. Of course, they are not required to pay taxes, either.
