Guest guest
Thanks Joyceji and Zenbabaji. Very well thought out posts and good analysis of the general situation. Perhaps others will read with care and respond and maybe a clarity can start to emerge. If not, then we can be happy knowing that we are certainly no worse off than before. We have always tried to balance a natural freedom of speech and expression of views with the list philosophy of mutual respect in interaction. There is tension in that balance and an inherent conflict and that manifests periodically. Theoretically such conflict can be resolved through imposition of rules which are then enforced fairly across the board. Zenbabaji is absolutely right that the moderator needs to be more effective in certain situations. That is probably the essence of the difficulty we have on our hands and I am sorry about that. As Zenbabaji states, "And, yes, I believe Harsha should step in and moderate this, because I sincerely believe that much more harm, for everyone will result" I do take full responsibility for not moderating effectively. Speaking of Sri Tonyji's purports, Sri Zenbabaji states, "It is a distortion of truth, and as such, it violates the sanctity of the Satsangh, it has caused needless division and animosity and it will continue to do so unless it is checked." Again, I am sorry for all the animosity and division caused. Freedom of expression of Sangha members is important and Tonyji is a member of the Sangha (for almost all of the six years the list has been around). Perhaps we can select "five or seven wise people" who are long term members of the sangha to make critical decisions which may impact a sangha member and curtail their rights to speech. Then we would all accept such decisions. Just a thought. Or Sri Tonyji could put his purports on a weblink and periodically direct sangha members there. Another thought. Anyway, a lot of stuff to mull over. Let's keep our thinking hats on! Cluess but in charge! :-). Harsha ===== /join
Guest guest
I personally find Tonyji's purports mostly boring and really quite innocent. I don't see how they could do much harm even to the most retarded seeker. What I do not do any more is try to communicate directly with Tony (sorry to be speaking about him as if he were not here). I found such efforts fruitless and painful. So I read his stuff, gloss over it if it is too long like the Edgar Cayce stuff, delete it. I think he uses his 'acquired knowledge', encyclopaedic as it seems to be, as an 'I have the last word', 'I know better', sort of club. "Only a jivanmukti" are words often on his lips. He can give us a list of who is or who is not one such. But this can only be hearsay knowledge for him. Hanging on to it and dispensing it to others does more harm to him than to anyone else. It is hard to have sat in the saddle for so long and think that we have not reached some 'goal'. Let's at least have some knowledge. Hard to give all that up and be innocent like a child again. In my opinion this harms him more than anyone else. Sam - Harsha Monday, August 30, 2004 4:48 PM Joyce, Zenbob, Thanks Joyceji and Zenbabaji.
