(there are more meanings, but those are the most common ones). thus "nishkama karma" means, simply, performing actions for their own sake, without desire for the fruit. some see it as the essential message of the bhagawat gita, 'the song divine' . i strongly recommend this wonderful work, which in only seven hundred verses contains the quintessence of all esoteric teaching... for me it served as a key which enabled me to 'unlock' and understand in a far more complete way the bible, koran etc. yosy btw, i do not waste any time on reading tony's posts, and delete them automatically. i read your response out of respect. one of my teachers said: "many books - much confusion... the gita is like a matchbox with seven hundred matches. no need to burn them all. enough to strike one match (verse) on the stone of experience, and with care and diligence one can build a fire which will burn all the world of illusion to ashes" @}->,->'--
