Dear Era:

Big Texas Bob is familiar with Patanjali's sutras and can do more justice to

this.

The two main samadhis are Sabija (with seed) and Nirbija (without seed).

Sabija is also called Savikalpa and Nirbija is also called Nirvikalpa.

There are countless types of Savikalpa Samadhis. Nirvikalpa by definition

can only be One.

However some yogis and yogic-tantric schools of thoughts say Nirvikalpa

happens at the Sahasarara. This Samadhi is a complete flood of energy and

ecstacy and very seductive. It is difficult to come out of. Sri Ramakrishna

said that if one stays too long in this, the body is given up because of the

diminished lack of desire to come out. Kundalini Shakti here becomes an

overwhelming flood of light and energy and enjoys its own essence in

consummation with Shiva so the body and its needs are forgotten. There are

no words for it.

Others say that the true Nirvikalpa is beyond the Sahasarara when the Shakti

after having gone to Sahasarara is drawn into the Spiritual Heart that is

the Self (I am in the Heart of all o' Gudkesha) and is beyond energy and

ecstacy and all experience. (Sri Ramana).

Investigate and find out as Sri Ramana would say.

Love to all

Harsha

what is Nirodha Samadhi

dear Harsha please explain this further

In Savikalpa or Sabija, there is

Triputi or the triad (knower, known

and knowledge). The Samskaras are not burnt or fried.

Savitarka, Nirvitarka, Savichara, Nirvichara, Sasmita and Saananda are

the different forms of Savikalpa

Samadhi.

In Nirbija Samadhi or Asamprajnata

Samadhi there is no triad. The

impressions are fried in toto.

A Bhakta gets Bhava-Samadhi, a

Jnani gets Badha-Samadhi, a

Raja Yogi gets Nirodha Samadhi.
