However Gandhiji said-'Non violence is the greatest force at the disposal of mankind'. Recently the grandson of Gandhi Arun Gandhi told President Arafat that if he had adopted a non violent campaign, the problem would have been solved decades ago. 'If the Palestinian people rise up and start a non violent movement it will boost world sympathy. The nations of the world will rise up and put more pressure on Israel.' Arunn is founded the a non violent institute at Christian Brothers University in Memphis. TN. The Jain teacher Satish Kumar says, 'Forty years of environmentalism have not brought about a true transformation...we have to come to a more holistic and intuitive environmentalism'. Satish started on a peace pilgrimage after reading in 1962 about Bertrand Russell being gaoled in the UK for his CND movement. ( Strange I was in gaol at the same time for being in Russell's movement and demonstrating.) Satish says we should think in terms of 'soil, soul, and society'-- a trinity that joins 'nature, humanity, and spirituality'. Satish uses the So Ham mantra..or'You are therefore I am'. Satish says quoting Gandhiji,' you cannot divide the world in two; a spiritual life in one compartment and the everyday world of politics and family in another'.............ONS....Tony. --- End forwarded message ---
