Guest guest
Hello my dear Jill, You always say things so well balanced: > The outward activity in the world must take a form; Exactly, and he {Gandhi) did not resist this "form." > it is/was the work of others to define > Gandhi's service in political terms. Exactly, nor did he resist this "service" or 'function' (which is actually a better translation for the term 'seva') - Krishna's wisdom indeed realized. May we all eventually fit 'form' and 'function', being 'empty', not being the 'doer'. Love, Wim

Guest guest
I like what you say about Ramana > ramana's function was 'his' apparent presence... being all in all, > there was no seva nor anyone serving (or to serve) there. only the > truth apparently responding instantly according to time, place and > people, without any plan, design or purpose. Guest guest
Hello Yosy, Thank you for your reply. I can't think of Ramana and the Mahatma in terms of 'categories', or make comparisons. I know looking at a picture of either of them makes me fall down. I was thinking earlier of the same quote you have copied. I am sure Gandhi would agree with the quote entirely, and his life centered in rigorous self-reform is the proof of my assertion. "Renounce and rejoice", he said in response to a question asking him to summarize his philosophy. The outward activity in the world must take a form; it is/was the work of others to define Gandhi's service in political terms.
