Guest guest
Here we have a saying 'to take the leaf from the mouth' I must confess one of the persons mentioned did annoy me many years ago when somebody in the good book shop in town used three out of four shelves reserved for the very best literature for his books : ). Has it not always been like this, some clever people will give themselves a title (maybe not the right word), some way or the other. But there are a few who truly 'receive' a title from others ( not only the group of followers ). And is it not so, that these are the ones we all can agree upon, as being genuine? ANY teacher, no matter how pure, is going to have things said about him/her at some point, human nature being what it is. But matters like being charged with felonies, getting kicked out of a country, having a sangha go completely out of control indulging in every possible form of excess ..... well, I would say that's a little different. > > That doesn't mean one couldn't have benefitted from certain positive experiences with the teacher. But I think the spiritual community can only evolve by having some degree of critical analysis and some standards of behavior. > the teacher can be evaluated by his/her students. true spiritual development is indicated by natural increase of student's humility and compassion. it is easily observable fact that followers of false teachers lack those developements; on the contrary. hypocrites, conscious or not, the self infatuated and the misled, attract people with similar tendencies... true love is not all hugs and kisses and soft speech. imitations of what people associate with "spirituality" are easy. but inner value is entirely different. respectfully, yosy jay ramana! /join "Love itself is the actual form of God."
