Guest guest
Lucia Osborne, Arthur Osborne's wife [Polish], loved eggs, inspite of Ramana's objection , that they weren't unsatvic but that they were living embryos and eating them offended ahisma. One day she came back from the grocers with a dozen eggs and Bhagavan was approaching .Quickly she covered her whicker basket with her shawl .He came near ,'she bowed , and then he said "oh you still like eggs do you ?' It showed her the Jnani can read our thoughts . After that she never touched eggs again . Love to all in His grace, Alan

In the Indian villages most are fertilised, some aren't. Most eggs, 99.9%, these days aren't fertilised...........So although thay be asatvic they are in the main non violent. It is a broad brush to say the egg is a living embryo, is a human woman's eggs an embryo? If so-----they are well wasted at menstruation then. So I agree with Ramana but qualify it. Otherwise one cannot eat seeds either for they would be embryos. It is useless to nit pick---one has always to do one's best and the always the lesser of evils. It is better not to eat eggs, but it is almost impossible with most pasta, bread and a million packaged products, and drinks containing them. I went through a phase where my family didn't eat any eggs or egg products, but as we didn't live in an environment that supported that it became a great and controversial difficulty. So out of Daya I allowed the kids and family to eat eggs and products again, and myself. This was many years ago now, and they have their own homes and still eat eggs, occasionally, but otherwise are still vegetarian. Which they may not have continued to be. It is a great and useful compromise in the Western World for sadhakas. It is also less hard on guests and visiting non vegetarians etc etc. Also no entity goes into any embryo until it satisfied that it will survive. That could be partially at 3-4 months and fully at the first 24 hour birth cycle, changing entities even. The only entity that enters and embryo at conception is a 'Divinity'.........Animals differ according to the length of pregnancy. In the end result there is a vast difference between eggs and animals being slaughtered, containing 'entities or souls'.....ONS...Saktidas/Tony.IMHO.
