Guest guest
Dear Michael, you are quite right with the statement "Garbage is garbage." - and Ramanas Story about it was much more to the point than my little story, of course. :-))) I wrote with a little wink of the eye, that may not have made its way through the internet as well as i intended. Irony is difficult to handle in e-mails sometimes. But at the bottom of the recyclingstory in every bucket i still found truth enough to make it worth a posting. So every stick has two ends, at least in Duality. The "modern" Recycling idea is of course a dualistic idea far from the unique perfection of Non-Duality. You know that in Germany the Name of the whole Recycling system set up by government is "Dual-System-Germany" in fact! Its a phantom of the mind itself and as such is a weak metaphor only. But when we introduce a third term to reconcile duality something wonderful might happen. The hidden third term in my example was sattva "purity" which is a pointer to something higher than the mind. As it points to Sat - "Truth" - it points to the self and hence to the higher reality of the heart. Out of conflict it transforms the fight of the opposites into a play of the gunas, a play which itself can be still seen as an illusion, of course. But for me this view brings things into a flow; things which have been unreconcilable opposites before. It was not my aim to propagate a "better" method than vichara, but as i am inflicted in duality all the time i only wanted to express my joy in seeing at least a little blinking light shining at the heart of all the garbage always and everywhere. So what it may come down to at the end of of the story still is our beautiful questionmark: who is throwing away any garbage ? and who is there to recycle ? :-)) Sat Nam Martin
