10.0pt">Good point David. I have been going to the lef.org website ever since

you

mentioned

them some years ago and I read this article a few weeks ago. It

makes sense.

Lef.org markets a lot of anti-aging products but is also

research

oriented. They are honest enough to emphasize that the only proven

method of

anti-aging is a low calorie but a nutritious diet. Most humans

with access

to a variety of foods are unable to do that.

I have

experimented with food off and on for about three decades and studied

its effect

on mind and body. One of the best experiments involved going on

Ann

Wigmore's wheatgrass and raw food program at an institute in near San

Diego which

was then called Hippocrates Institute in California

(has changed

the name

since then). I was not overweight to begin with then but after my

three week

stay lost even more weight and my parents were not happy when I

showed up so

skinny. I felt great though. Gradually I gained weight again

due to

normal social circumstances and interactions involving pizzas and ice

cream and

other fatty foods. But periodically restricting my diet leads to a

good feeling

and I did this for a few months two years ago.

On January

26, I will again be starting a restricted diet for one year in

the honor of

my father who passed away last year. It is both a spiritual

undertaking

as well as related to health. I call this diet the Yoga Diet, to

keep things

simple. Essentially I will be eating mostly sattvic raw foods,

with an

emphasis on certain easily available fruits and vegetables. The only

exception to

the sattvic foods will be that I will take tea with soymilk.

I will be

recording carefully what I eat and drink with before and after

pictures and

put it in a weblog :-).

Love to all

What You Don't Know About Blood

Sugar

In a new hypothesis

that shakes the pillars of conventional wisdom, it

now appears

that optimal fasting blood glucose levels should probably be

under 86

mg/dL. This means that those with high "normal" glucose

(86-109) are

at an increased risk of premature death. While the medical

establishment

clearly understands the lethal dangers of hyperglycemia

(blood sugar

over 126), they have yet to recognize that even high normal

glucose

levels pose a serious threat to one's health.
