Guest guest
Hello everyone, I am in the third day of my yoga diet where I emphasize mostly unprocessed and raw foods. My general plan is to eat "light" and "heavy" on alternate days. On the light days, I do not count how much I eat. My focus in not on limiting the food intake but limiting the types of foods I eat on the "light day". On January 26, I started with my "light day" and through the day at different times ate apples and oranges and broccoli with low fat dressing. The idea on the "light days" is to focus on raw plant based foods (fruits and vegetables, possibly sprouts of garbanzo beans and stuff). I am also a habitual tea drinker and drink strong tea in very large mugs in which I mix soymilk. So even on my light days, I am getting adequate protein from the soymilk in the tea. January 27 was my "heavy" day. On my heavy days, along with the "light foods" I will be eating "heavier fat" foods like avocados and nuts along with fruits and vegetable. On such days, I might have some processed grain foods and legumes as well, although not always. This is more of a convenience issue. Here is the basic program that I followed. Prior to starting this diet, I took two months to prepare for it by starting the transition towards it so not to shock the system. In the transition phase, I included more fruits and vegetables and reduced slightly my food intake. I also made heavy use of broccoli in the transition and this will continue during the actual diet. Broccoli is low carbohydrate, low fat, high in protein and very filling. I believe it also has an anti-inflammatory effect and is probably good for a range of things. During the transition phase, I lost about 5 pounds. During my one year restricted diet, I expect to lose around 20-25 pounds or so. I am not really heavy to begin with so my main challenge will be to eat sufficient quantities and combinations of food to make the weight loss gradual and spread out over a period. Periodically, I will be giving you my reports. Harsha
