Guest guest
Thankyou for the welcome! A very dear Yogi friend of mine has introduced me to some of the sayings of Ramana Maharshi. Very powerful, very potent. I am happy to be here! During the last year I have started an active practice. (Using self-effort as the basis of the practice, rather than listening and reading and feeling good) The practice includes about one hour a day (20 minutes 3 times per day) in seated meditation focused on self-inquiry. As this meditation deepened, the inquiry extends to the rest of my activities. Here is another poem, describing a medditation experience while I was driving back to my office from a meeting with a consuting client, >From about a year ago. Not two. Not Buddha, Not three pounds of flax. Not this or that, Not this and that! No me, no you. No seeker, no sage. But one! Just . . . one. Not two. Are the enlightened subject to cause and effect? Guest guest
Hi Richard, Yes!! Acquaintance with the Self is certainly gained through conscious self-effort in Self-Enquiry. Once acquainted with the Self, Self fascination spontaneously arises. Then Atma Vichara is constant. The default situation. Guest guest
Om Namo Bhagavate Sri Arunachalaramanaya **************************************** Ardrew, All that I can do is echo Sri Ramana. You said you feel anger. Who feels this anger? To whom does this anger come? You said that your hope was that you someday find bliss. "I might eventually find bliss." When sages and greats like Sri Ramana use words like bliss it's not what you as a human might think off as bliss. This thing that Sri Ramana points to can not be thought of or explained it is ineffable. The words that are used are just pointers and not the truth. Thats why Sri Ramana tought so much with silence. As an example. You said: I might eventually find Bliss. In The Eight Stanzas on Sri Arunachala by Sri Ramana verse 3, the final line reads:"To dwell without thought upon Thy (boundless) nature is to lose one's (seperate) identity like a doll of sugar when it comes in contact with the ocean; (of nectar) and when I come to realize who I am, what else is this identity of mine (but Thee), O Thou Who standest as the towering Aruna Hill." There is a story of the sugar doll who dived into the ocean to see how deep it was but desolved and became one with the ocean, there was no one left to speak of the depth of the water. This "I" that wants to find bliss must merge with the sourse of the "I" and will not be there to say I feel bliss. It is not blissful or non-blissful. More simpley Who is angry? To whom does this anger come? Who wants to experience bliss? Ever yours in Arunachalaramana, Adam --- "Andrew R. Hoople" <hoopleandrew wrote: > Hello there, My name is Andrew R.
