Guest guest
Dear Gary thank you for your information i did not know that this "famous" Chinmoy dared to call himself this and that... without judging because does it not speak for itself and is that not enough???? That is not something Sri Chinmoy announces publically, although he has made that claim to at least one group of relatively close disciples.Just a little anecdote from my experience as a disciple of his when I was living in Jamaica, Queens, from 1970 thru 1980.After Sri Chinmoy's first visit to Ramanashram, the Mother gave him a big slap as punishment for what she considered to be young Chinmoy's disloyalty to Sri Aurobindo.Gary, michael bindel <michael_bindel> wrote:> > My Visit to Sri Ramanasramam> > > > Sri Chinmoy's talk at the N.Y. Guest guest
Dear Gary, Over a period of more than half a century, some of the greatest yogis and sages of India and even a few shankracharyas had the good fortune to visit Bhagavan. So here was Sri Ramana, sitting virtually naked and content and care free. These yogis with mystical powers and siddhis and learned men bowed when they saw the true master sitting there. After Sri Ramana arrived in Arunachala, he never felt the desire to go anywhere and give darshan and so forth. Appearing ordinary in all ways, the sage of arunchala was full of life, humor, laughter, and yet manifested a silence that was the epitome of serene beauty. One time, someone came to visit Sri Ramana while he was sitting all alone. The person asked Bhagavan "where is the swami"? Sri Ramana said, the swami has gone out somewhere. That was Sri Ramana's way. He did not consider himself any swami or different than anyone. So the person left and ran into a devotee and told her how he cannot locate the Swami. This long time devotee of Bhagavan took this person to Ramana and said this is the swami. After the person had left, the devotee asked Ramana whether it is right for him to trick people like that and tell them that the Swami is gone out somewhere. Sri Ramana said, what am I supposed to do, wear a bell on my neck or have a label posted on my forehead saying here is the swami. Ramana was the most natural Guru. His power and grace to open the Heart and make the devotees realize their own being was literally overwhelming. Poor illiterate devotees who knew nothing of yoga, meditation, or scriptures but were lucky enough to get his instructions on cooking and other minor things have recounted the old days and said things like "He used to make us like Himself". Meaning, he would make them see their own Self in an instant, bypassing all spiritual practices! Sri Ramana has no equals. There are some wonderful stories we have posted before. Have you read, "Love and Romance at Ramana ashram". I think I posted something from the newsletter with that title. It is a great story. So many wonderful stories. I think we have a link on HS on Sri Ramana stories as well. Love to all Harsha garyfalk1943 wrote: > > It is very refreshing to see an instance where Sri Chinmoy has > acknowledged another spiritual master as being an Avatar, and not > merely a "partial one", presumably, like Jesus or Sri Aurrobindo. > > Sri Chinmoy has relegated almost every spiritual master who has ever > lived to rungs on the spiritual ladder far below his own, which of > course, is none other than the rung on the very top. > > I was not at all surprised that Sri Chinmoy did not confide to Mani > that he (Sri Chinmoy)too, was an Avatar, in fact, the Avatar known in > Hindu mythology as Kalki, the 10th. and final incarnation of the god > Vishnu. > > That is not something Sri Chinmoy announces publically, although he > has made that claim to at least one group of relatively close > disciples. > > Just a little anecdote from my experience as a disciple of his when I > was living in Jamaica, Queens, from 1970 thru 1980. > > After Sri Chinmoy's first visit to Ramanashram, the Mother gave him a > big slap as punishment for what she considered to be young Chinmoy's > disloyalty to Sri Aurobindo. > > > Gary >
