You indicated that you knew of no one in Oregon that I could contact and that I should pray to Sri Ramana Maharshi. I am sure that was/is good advice, but Ramana Maharshi himself said that the process was not possible without a Guru. I find that to be true. Is there anyone in North American that is of the Guru status and has realized the Self? If so, is he/she available? If not, is there such a person at the Arunachala Ashram? > > Thank you for your assistance on this matter. > > - Oregon, USA >> There is a man in Asheboro, NC who calls himself Ramana and who has assistants teach "Who Am I?" meditation. In fact they have a conference call arrangement where you can plug into the teaching without having to go to the ashram in Asheboro, NC physically. I think that there may be a correspondence course as well. I've been to the ashram in Asheboro a few times for "satsang" or whatever, and although the Ramana in residence looked and sounded like a jolly old Santa Claus, I came away with the impression that there was really nothing for me there. But anyone who has an interest can check things out for themselves: http://www.aham.com/index.html Yours truly, Swami Garyananda
