Guest guest
Good point John. The quote is on page 202 of my edition. It is explained at the bottom of page 201 that this conversation took place with Mr. Poonja, a Punjabi gentleman. I wonder if that is Poonjaji of the Papaji fame. The Heart is one of Sri Ramana's favorite themes and he speaks of it from many perspectives. You can read more about the Heart on the HS website which is dedicated to Sri Ramana. Click on the url below Then click on Volume I and II Read the section on Heart, Nirvikalpa Samadhi,.... Love to all Harsha "Love itself is the actual form of God." Sri Ramana In "Letters from Sri Ramanasramam" by Suri Nagamma - "bharani" <bharani "Rm-Group" <RamanaMaharshi> Saturday, March 27, 2004 9:39 AM [RamanaMaharshi] Be As You Are Hello: Chapter Six ("Self-Enquiry - Misconceptions) of the Indian edition of this book gives as footnote 16, the reference to Day By Day with Bhagavan as page 202. However this does not match up with my old edition of Day By Day (i.e. this quote isn't on page 202). The quote by the way, given in the Indian edition of Be As You Are is cited on page 76, and it is: "I ask you to see where the 'I' rises in your body, but it is really not quite correct to say that the 'I' rises from and merges in the Heart in the right side of the chest. The Heart is another name for the reality and it is neither inside nor outside the body. There can be no 'in' or 'out' for it, since it alone is." If any references to this book are cited, it is always best if the date on which the journal entry was made is cited, as this will be the same whatever edition of Day By Day one has. Thanks John Siva-Siva
Guest guest
Thank you Sri Harsha Two years ago when I was working with "Day By Day" I'd scribbled the words "Papaji" on page 253 of my edition (published by Sri Ramanasramam in 1968). I think it's reasonable to assume that Mr Poonja is Papaji here, as it tallies with the story given in "Nothing Ever Happened", the 3-volume work by David Godman. This is also the page which contains the quote in question. Incidentally the date on which the conversation took place is listed as 23—5—46. anbudan John Siva—Siva RamanaMaharshi, "Harsha" wrote: > Good point John. Guest guest
Dear Friends, Listening to the Edward Elgar Cello Concerto with Jacqueline du Pres, at surely her finest, being conducted by Sir John Barbirolli, such swelling gratitude along with the swelling cello's telling of Elgar's story and emotions in untold until then, knowing and understanding, and there is such glad gratitude that we had her here with us long enough to gift us, to Grace us with her unique and sublime renditions of Elgar's golden end of life Cello Concerto. Reading quotes from "Be As You Are," and other friendly spins... hence: Jaqueline du Pres was a child prodigy, one who manifested such an understanding and talent for the cello's possibilities of communication of the human-divine spirit, beginning at four years of age. Jacqueline du Pres died of MS at the so young age of 42 on October 19th, 1987. When she was a young child she said to her sister Hilary, "When I grow up I won't be able to walk or move." Love moves Mysterious in we whom are This, and we are sometimes given glimpses of what Is before it appears as what It Is. Who can say why? Hearing her play so beautifully, I am always moved to the depths of myself, and the Heart swells with her singing cello and we are lifted in such Love ...
