There are different kinds of Kundalini Yoga. Most of these relate to

the Pratyahar Path, which can be summed up, as the practice of

dissolving or withdrawal. But there is another kind that includes a

whole Laya Path, i.e., the practice of Radiance, an ancient secret

yoga that was taught over a 35 year period by Yogi Bhajan.

The Kundalini yoga taught by Yogi Bhajan, while not for everyone,

establishes an inexorable process that leads to the experience of

one's Self as single, non-dual, pervasive Consciousness Itself, as

the Light which lights the mind and senses, but outshines them, as

the moon seen in the crystal blue sky of a risen sun. Most practices

of Kundalini Yoga related to the Pratyahar Path, limit the idea of

the practice to opening of the silver cord chakras and the ajna and

crown chakra. The Yogi Bhajan called the Kundalini Yoga he taught,

One Star Spirituality, the One Star referring to what other yogas

call the Hrdayam, but meaning the awakening of awareness to the

Totality of Being, what has also been called the Enlightenment of the

Whole Body, including the chakra system along the silver cord (spine)

and passages from the throat to the ajna chakra and crown, as well as

the chakra system along the gold cord between the ajna and crown, and

the mind nerve (atma nadi) Temple of the Heart (One Star / Hrdayam)

and the crown.

What happens through the practice of Kundalini Yoga is that voltage

throughout the body field is systematically increased, while the nadi

system throughout the body adjust and normalize to the higher voltage.

In the process latent tendencies of the mind encodes throughout the

body field are dissolved and the nadi system begins to become like a

filament in a light bulb where in the darkness of the mind, the body

field begins to become radiant and bright, so that you begin to loose

the identification of focalized attention and awareness and see

pervasively in and around the body without the use of the mind. You

see as a field of consciousness in which the body field appears, and

you begin to notice a shift or "letting go" of attention into

non-objective awareness. A sense of de-contraction pervades, and with

it emerges the various awarenesses of aspects of one's True Self, such

as a selfless sense of compassion, an ease of pervasive clarity, the

feelings of bhakti and devotion that emerge simply by hearing about

the life of a Sage, Saint and Savior, the emergence of the

discriminative mind (buddhi) and with it automatic tendency towards

vichara. Then suddenly, the simple word read or heard about the life

or teaching of a Saint, Sage or Savior of any Religion, results in a

"recollection" a "hearing" wherein there is an "impact" between the

individual unit of consciousness, the pure (satvic) atman (the Son),

and the Infinite - Brahman (the Father). A sense of radical

relinquishment takes hold, even of the pervasive sense of radiance,

purity, bhakti, stillness, and you abide as single pervasive Being,

reverberating in the soundless sound of the unconditioned - uncaused

- unformed, without time, space-like, beyond space.

I think, if you read through these articles, you'll get the gist of

how the Yoga works in a radically different manner than other yogas

to bring about this non-dual experience.

This experience is so remotely different from what people consider the

way in which they see and know that even with considerable conjecture

it cannot be gleaned. And yet it is the basis for all, and easily

accessible. You'll see what I mean as you read through the articles.

The main thing, once one gets a grasp on how the yoga works, is to

practice with fervor. Then it all happens very quickly, just as Yogi

Bhajan used to say.
