Guest guest
Excerpt: "...he said he has not one time received any fruit or real meat..." Comment: Good gracious, they must be serving them "unreal meat". Incredible!!! Excerpt: "I live in Arkansas and we have a Prison system that treat rabbit dogs better than a human." Comment: One needs to take extra special care of "rabbit dogs". After all, they are a very rare breed. Excerpt: "...he is Bi-Polar and schizophrenic and I worry that something is going to happen to him." Comment: It sounds like something has already happened to him. Conclusion: Don't worry, be happy. When I was at the Dharma Conference a few years ago, there was a woman there who spoke on this subject, very eloquently, I might add. She was involved with a program in India where the prisoners were taught meditation and was seeing wonderful results in the recidivism rate. I believe the program was the Sri Sri Ravi Shankar method, but cannot at the moment remember her name. A different kind of self fulfilling prophesy :-) Love, Joyce - "Al Larus" <erilarend <> Tuesday, September 20, 2005 9:25 AM RE: Fw: Lack of food in Oklahoma Prison? > > Mahatma Gandhi said, "All crime is a kind of disease > and should be treated as such." > > > > > > /join > > > > > > "Love itself is the actual form of God." > > Sri Ramana > > In "Letters from Sri Ramanasramam" by Suri Nagamma > Links > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
amen, a disease of the heart mind and soul who is taught to hate him/self herself and thereby extending that hatred/division/separation to the world that is seen as other than self--a criminal lacking in the ability to derive a truthful response to Being in a world of not-understanding, a contrivance and reliance on misjudging one's lot. poverty is not the culprit, race is not the culprit, an unfair system of law is not the culprit, the criminal is not the culprit, the culprit is who lives in ignorance of the original culprit who laid waste to a heart of a child's innocence, creating a world full of culprits. love, ar - Al Larus Tuesday, September 20, 2005 9:25 AM RE: Fw: Lack of food in Oklahoma Prison? A different kind of self fulfilling prophesy :-)Love,Joyce Namaste Alan and Joyce, Thank you both for replying to the prison situation in Oklahoma. Rather than curse the darkness as so many do. I personally know stories of prison situations as related by the niece of one of my closest friends. She is a "Social Director" which has many levels ;-) one of which was incorporating meditation/yoga sessions at an Ohio prison (another niece). She says a few started and then the word spread and some of these guys are huge hulks with tattoos all over their bodies, the meditation teacher is 4' 10 or something so you can imagine the scene in the room. And many of these huge guys cry. Many paint absolutely beautifully. And write. I also wonder how much less of a prison population there would be if someone had tried to develop that and green that creativity in the soul of the then-child. We need to reach all children with the joys of creativity and nature. And isn't it sad that there are prisons providing meditation and yoga and others who do not even provide enough to eat... How does that happen. I wonder...
