I have read numerous stories where Ramana would frequently go into

samadhi sometimes even for days at a time. However in these days and

times I have yet seen those that are awaken go into samadhi. I am not

asking so much that samadhi needs to happen but am more curious about

Ramana entering into samadhi so often and yet it is seldom seen in

today's world? I know there is what is called natural samadhi I am not

speaking of that I am speaking of the samadhi where there is no

movement of the body for extended periods of time of which Ramana

seemed to do often.

Comments most welcome

Blessings in the now always

well, there may be some reasons you have not seen this. one, that the

awakened are like thieves: only the ones who were caught are publicly

known. others, (the sufi call them "hidden dervishes") keep doing

whatever it is they do, with very few aware of their true identity.

yet no human community can exist without such hidden masters. they

were and are always. they teach unperceived, not by lecturing, and

thus when (and if) they enter samadhi, they do it in privacy far from

the public eye. their apparent actions are according to the demands of

time, place and community, and often veiled under most the most

mundane appearance...

some of the masters i had a priviledge and good fortune to meet

appeared to the whole world as ordinary men, providing for their

families and holding ordinary jobs, just as before awakening...

another reason. i feel ramana's samadhi was merely means to enter

privacy, since his whole life was public. there is no difference for

the sage whether the eyes are opened or closed, the body active or at

rest; nor any benefit to be derived from it... but the body and mind

need their respite.

in truth ramana remained ever in nirvikalpa samadhi, whatever the

apperance.

yes. they do meditation. and some are very skilled at that... but then

they return to "normal" consciousness.

ramana was meditation/consciousness. he did not go or returned anywhere.
