(this is a copy of my introductory message I posted on the Kundalini

newsgroup wich I joined at the same time as this one.)

Hello,

I am very happy to have found this list! My name is Daniel and I

had

Kundalini awakening around the age of 19. I'm 26 now and in my

final

year at animation school. Kundalini awakening came purely through

reading the Spiritual teachings of Adi Da Samraj. I remember now

the first

time it happened what when I was reading his teachings about the ego

on

the internet. I suddenly felt a huge insight into a dilemma I had

felt

throughout my childhood and at the same time felt a rush of energy

up

the spine and tingly all over. Adi Da by the way could be connected

to

the lineage of Shakti yoga since he was given permission to teach by

Swami Muktananda, a famous Siddha Yogi. These early purifying

Kundalini

movements intensified hugely as I came close and closer to taking my

formal Vow as a devotee of Adi Da.

I spent 6 years with Adi Da and even lived on his Ashram for a year

and

sat with him many times. I have recently left his teaching. As you

may know he is very controversial hard to trust completely. I felt

he

was disempowering us by making us dependent on Him (resort to him

with our full attention in every single moment) for absolutly

everything while at the same time criticizing the hell out of us,

including our

dependency on him so that we became paralyzed and felt every action

we

take is criticized as "egoic" or sinful action. But I am pleased

see that I don't need

to be with one particular Guru to experience Kundalini. And I still

have great love and admiration for Adi Da. He is dear to my heart.

I am now at a point where I am both attracted and repulsed by the

idea

of finding another guru. I would be extremely careful in that.

Recently I was attracted to Master Ching Hai .. but find her

intellectually

lacking and disagree with her on some issues . . nevertheless I feel

she

is highly evolved and unlike Adi Da does not ask for absolute

surrender

to herself. She even tells her disciples they can keep their own

religions. She teaches meditaion on the inner Light and Sound . .

wich I

think are Kundalini manifestations anyways. Anyhow I"m confused and

am

always open to hearing how other people here are evolving their

awareness and connection to "The Great One" or the "Truth Self".

There are

so many paths!

Welcome Daniel,

You will find truth to be just that simple and pure here..

I hear you Adi Da or whatever he has changed his names so many times

I loose track, he was actually born as Franklin Jones and it was

really Nitaananda that gave him the blessings to go and teach..

But all that is just that here you may find that you are THAT and

have always been the Awareness so welcome,

Blessings in the now always

Randy

Namaste All,

thank-you for some very beautiful welcome messages I really appreciate it - I'm looking for some answers to various questions Im having with self inquiry meditation...

I read ab ook called Hardcore Zen which is a very enjoyable book on zen meditation

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hardcore-Zen-Monster-Movies-Reality/dp/086171380X/sr=11-1/qid=1165860859/ref=sr_11_1/203-2795229-8274340

link above to the book

The book inspired me to start a "zazen" practice which I have been doing for  a while.

I have also read Maharishi's who am I and self enquiry books and my meditation practice has now moved on to self inquiry-.

I having problems with terminolgy certainly with phrases in Robert Adam's book silence of the heart (which I am also reading) I am reading the words but just not getting it stuff like I am conciousness / everything is conciousness i just don't feel it - i understand the words but not the essence-

also regarding the self-inquiry I have read Ramana says some people are not ready for it -so these questions cross my mind - am I ready am I doing it right - I sit on my cushion for 30 mins with the "who am I" question repeating and also "to whom do these thoughts arise" but Im not sure if the question might as well be what am I having for tea!!!??

Also I am reading "Hunting the I" - where Ramana says that I come before OM - I just dont undertsand it.

Sorry to go on and on - but any help would be greatfully received

shanti to all
