our beloved member pintu has raised a very interesing question in one

Which form of Durga makes you respect and adore her more?

 

Slaying Mahishasura,astriding a lion, with three eyes and ten hands.

 

Sitting on a tiger, with eight hands and two eyes

 

folks, this made me think - so i rushed to consult my bible on Durga -

-- and i found this interesting verse in atha vaikritikam rahasyam

(the modified secret- chandi-patah- by swami satyananda saraswati.)

 

asta dasa buhja pujiya sa sahadsra bhuja sati

ayudhanyatra vaksyante daksinaadhah kasra kramat

 

Even though SHE (GODDESS DURGA) has a 1000 arms, She should be

worshipped with eighteen hands . the weapons SHE HOLDS are enumerated

in order beginning from the lower right.

 

aksmala ca kamalam babo-sih kulisam gada

cakram trisulam parasuh sankho ghanta ca pasakah

saktirdandascarma capam panapatram kamandaluh

alamkrta bhujamobhirayudhaih kamalasanam

 

1) the rosary of alphabets
